Integration Steering Committee
Bridging Science and Policy

The Integration Steering Committee works to improve communication and establish linkages across the technical and policy levels of the waterfowl management community. Integration is a formal and explicit element of NAWMP implementation since the 2012 Revision.

Roles & responsibilities

Connecting the Pieces

From strategic planning to cross-community coordination, the Integration Steering Committee ensures that NAWMP's habitat, harvest, human dimensions, and public support goals advance together. Working across Joint Ventures, Flyways, technical working groups, and the Plan Committee, the Integration Steering Committee keeps the full partnership moving in the same direction.

  • Integrates considerations across NAWMP objectives for waterfowl habitat conservation, population and harvest management, human dimensions, and public support
  • Facilitates the development of specific proposals to advance the integration of NAWMP goals
  • Ensures active communication between technical working groups, Joint Ventures, Flyways, and the Plan Committee
  • Plans and hosts the NAWMP Webinar Series

North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP) 40th Anniversary

Forty years ago, North American waterfowl were in serious decline. Today, most populations are thriving — doing better than any other group of birds on the continent. This film tells the story of how three nations chose collaboration over crisis, and what four decades of partnership have built: millions of acres restored, ecosystems sustained, and communities connected to the landscapes they depend on.

Mid Continent Light Geese – Still Presenting Challenges

In the mid- to late 1990s, the mid-continent population of light geese (lesser snow and Ross’s geese) presented managers with a unique challenge in wildlife management, due to their overabundance and effects on northern habitats.
