The NAWMP Science Support Team strengthens the biological foundations of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan and fosters continuous improvement in the effectiveness of NAWMP conservation programs at both the continental and Joint Venture levels.
Roles & Responsibilities
From Data to Decision
From continental population surveys to Joint Venture implementation plans, the Science Support Team ensures that NAWMP conservation decisions are built on the best available biological science.
- Provides scientific expertise on waterfowl populations and habitat questions related to Plan implementation
- Facilitates identification of methods for biological planning and evaluating Plan performance at continental and regional scales
- Conducts large-scale studies of landscape variation and waterfowl demography
- Facilitates technical information exchange among Flyways, Joint Ventures, and the NAWMP Committee
- Reviews all Joint Venture waterfowl implementation plans for initial NAWMP endorsement and subsequent updates
